A new living wing to the rear of the dwelling allows the original workers cottage to retain it’s presence on the corner.  Integration of landscape was important to the owners, yet the original cottage had no relation to the street. This design responds by presenting opportunities for greenery throughout the new addition to the site.  It begins with a tight entry with a wire frame to encourage vertical growth. 

Upon entry into a double height space, the original and proposed structures are pulled apart leaving a wedge of garden between. The living spaces then focus out to a captured landscape that interacts with the internal spaces.  Upon retreating upstairs, the new private living space and deck then look back down over these spaces to link back to the entry journey.
