Mayfield house is situated in the middle of a relatively large block of land with 3 street frontages in a character area.  The siting of the house means that there is a large disconnect between the front yard and the rear, and as we often find with pre-1946 house, there is no connection between the internal living spaces and the ground.

The aim of the renovation and extension was raise the existing house, and then open up the entire level to both the front and rear yards to bring in lots of natural light and ventilation, and to really enhance the feeling of space and connectivity.
