Originally, the existing house was a replica 2 storey workers cottage that was quickly being outgrown by the needs of the family that occupied it.  The design of the renovation creates a dramatic new façade that boldly presents itself to the street, while a small front garden creates a welcoming entry for visitors.  Once inside, the previously dark and compressed spaces are now filled with light, opening up with visual connections to other rooms.

Upstairs, the major changes are with the master bedroom.  The desire here was to create a space within the room that had the qualities of a deck, yet remained part of the interior.  This was achieved through expansive glass, taller volumes and timber detailing.
