“Architecture should have a purpose and reason for being.”
Growing up in a family with a construction background, Isabella was exposed to architecture from a young age. Through this, she developed a passion for architecture and design in general, which utilises the perfect combination of her creativity and logic. According to her peers at Base, she has impressive knowledge when it comes to interiors and amazing attention to detail.
Joining the Base team whilst completing her Bachelor of Design majoring in Architectural Studies, Isabella has since gone on to complete her Masters of Architecture at QUT. In addition to the Masters degree, she also chose to study interior design and urban planning to compliment her architectural studies.
Isabella is a key member of the Base team and enjoys the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects, all of which engage her design and technical documentation skills.
Isabella believes architecture is about more than just making a building look good; it’s about bringing in layers of complexity to the design that responds to the users’ needs and improves their experience within the space.
The Seattle Central Library, designed by Rem Koolhaas, is at the top of Isabella’s list of inspirational architecture to visit internationally. The multi-functional building which allows effective and tranquil environments for occupants, contrasts against the impressive and imposing external forms are inspirational for Isabella.
Outside of work, Issy loves to hang out with her dog Monty or bake up a storm in the kitchen.
